Restaurant Alpenrose

Swiss · Mediterranean

24 min by car

The Alpenrose in Sils Maria stands on the site of the village's first inn, dating from 1862, where Friedrich Nietzsche regularly dined; the present building was rebuilt in 1999. In the kitchen is Peider-Duri Witschi, who has cooked at the Suvretta House among other places, combining Swiss classics such as sliced veal with rösti with Mediterranean dishes. By its own account the kitchen uses local produce, and there is game in autumn. Falstaff rates the restaurant 88 points in 2026; it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
