Chamanna Segantini

Mountain hut

7 min by car · to the starting point

The Segantini hut at 2,731 m on the Schafberg is one of the finest viewpoints above the Upper Engadine – the view takes in the entire lake landscape. It was here in 1899 that Giovanni Segantini worked on his Alpine Triptych, and he died in the hut that same autumn. Hut warden Anselm Tscharner and his team serve homemade barley soup, regional organic cheese, savoury tarts and cakes from the hut’s oven. The hut can only be reached on foot, for example from Muottas Muragl, and accepts cash only.

Our hosts' tip

Only reachable by lift, train or on foot – the car stays at the starting point. Reservations: not possible; groups please call ahead.
