Holidays the little ones love too

The Upper Engadine is an outstanding family destination: safe villages, short distances, plenty of nature and an offering tailored to children. From Bever the finest family destinations are quickly reached, and the quiet village is a relaxed base for young and old.

Experiencing animals and nature

Marmots whistle on the Alp Languard, ibex and deer live in the nearby national park, and cows and horses graze on many alpine meadows. Children love the animal encounters, and the Heidi flower trail near Pontresina makes alpine flora playfully tangible. Even watching the marmots through binoculars becomes a little adventure.

Easy hikes for short legs

The flat Val Bever right behind the village is ideal for first hikes with children: no traffic, a babbling stream and plenty of room to explore. The path to Lake Staz through the forest is easily manageable too – with a swim as the reward. Many paths are pushchair-friendly, and mountain railways shorten the climb when little legs grow tired.

Swimming and splashing

Lake Staz is the warmest bathing lake in the region and a family classic. On hot days the shallow shore is perfect for the little ones, and the restaurant provides refreshment. When it rains, the region’s adventure pools – for example in St. Moritz and Pontresina – offer water fun with slides and paddling pools.

Travelling by railway

For children, even the journey is an adventure. The red Rhaetian Railway, the funicular up to Muottas Muragl or the cable car to the Diavolezza turn climbing metres into an experience – without any grumbling. At the top, playgrounds, viewpoints and often child-friendly themed trails await.

Practical for families

A holiday apartment gives families space, their own kitchen and room to retreat for a midday nap. We provide a cot free of charge – simply select it during online check-in. A separate dining and play area makes rainy days easier too. Family apartments at Chesa Michel

In rain and in winter too

When the weather changes, the Ovaverva indoor pool in St. Moritz or the Bogn Engiadina mineral baths in Scuol provide swimming fun, and museums tell Engadine stories. In winter, sledging runs, winter walking trails and easy cross-country loops become a family adventure, while more experienced children carve their first turns in the ski areas around Bever. A holiday apartment with a kitchen makes the family holiday relaxed: your own rhythm, room to play and a stove for cosy evenings after a day in the fresh mountain air.
